Sludge Treatment

Abydoz has developed a low maintenance sludge storage and treatment process for the dewatering and disposal of sludge from a wide variety of sources. Using green infrastructure, a low maintenance and easy to operate process ensures that the system can be easily implemented in all sites and locations, greatly reducing operating costs.

Out specifically developed sludge treatment wetlands work similar to vertical wetlands. Sludge is dosed to the top of the bed, where the wetlands plants grown up through the sludge. Solids are retained on the surface of the bed, and dewatered effluent is directed down through the wetland to the effluent. Reed provide additional capillaries through root growth to ensure the beds don’t clog, and help dewater the sludge. Sludge is dosed over approximately 10+ years and then the dewatered sludge at up to 40% solids is harvested.
